What we do

Team-based approaches are used in many chronic diseases such as diabetes, depression, asthma and heart disease. Similar to the management of these conditions the patient or person-with-pain is the key player, along with the family and work place.

Instead of waiting for someone else to fix your pain, you will be empowered to self manage your own condition. Through improved function and quality of life, pain management can reduce the suffering and disability associated with pain, which is often followed by reduction in pain levels.

Treatments offered include:

Medication of which there are many available today for the treatment of chronic pain. The type of medication recommended will depend on the type of pain, other medications being taken and other medical issues.

Diagnostic and therapeutic injections such as facet joint injections for low back and neck pain, epidural injections, nerve root injections for “sciatica”, suprascapular nerve blocks for shoulder pain, ilioinguinal/genitofemoral nerve blocks for hernia pain, ganglion impar and hypogastric blocks for pelvic pain, coeliac plexus blocks for upper abdominal pain, lumbar sympathetic and stellate ganglion blocks for complex regional pain syndrome, occipital nerve blocks for headaches and others.

Radiofrequency lesions which involves using a small current to reduce the activity of a nerve that is causing pain.

Neurostimulation and neuromodulation which involves placing wires close to nerves and stimulating them with a tiny device leading to pain relief. In the right person this approach can provide long term reductions in pain.
